World of Style: Katie Murphy

11 Honoré’s Director of Client Services Takes Us Through Her New York City in Spring’s Most Stylish Looks.

Katie Murphy was fashion obsessed from an early age. Photographer Steven Meisel’s iconic imagery from the 1990s was ingrained in her brain and fashion bibles like W and Vogue informed not just her eye, but her career path.

Murphy’s success in fashion since her teen years is like something out of a fairytale, except that coupled with (or perhaps eclipsing) all of the glamour and enviable positions she has held, including as modeling agent and luxury sales director, is her direct work with clients whom she takes on a sartorial journey in order to find and refine their style.

As the director of client services at 11 Honoré, Murphy works one on one with women all over the world to find the best pieces for their dynamic and multi-faceted lives. She delves into their aesthetic, lifestyle and emotions in regards to fashion, in order to always land at the place that is most comfortable for them.

“I get the most amazing texts and emails every single day from my clients, thanking me for making them feel beautiful and putting them in clothes they never previously had access to.” Says Murphy about the most gratifying aspect of her career. “The level of trust my clients have in me is wonderful. They know I that have a lot of integrity in what I do and that I will always be honest with them.”

Living and working in Manhattan for the past 20 years, Murphy is on the cusp of fashion and trends in general, but particularly in the know about the designers who create extended sizing and truly understand the female body so curves are highlighted, celebrated and ultimately, celebrated. She ensures that fashion is fun, effortless and accessible to women above sample size.

Her own wardrobe has the edge assumed with living in New York City, but with plenty of ultra-feminine silhouettes, vibrant color and travel-friendly essentials that suit her busy, jet-setting schedule.

“I tend to stick to Mara Hoffman dresses when I’m working and when I’m not, I live in Rag and Bone jeans.” She says. “I love this vibrant Camilla dress, the electric blue Juan Carlos Obando blouse and teal pants and the Haney jumpsuit. The colors in all three looks are so vivid and bright without being overwhelming and each piece is subtly sexy but still completely comfortable. They can be really dressy or really chill.”

When Murphy is in Manhattan, which is not for long periods of time as she is constantly traveling, she aims to make each moment in the city she loves count.

“My perfect New York day would be a Sunday, 65 degrees with a blue sky. I love going to Soul Cycle then to the NoMad hotel for lunch with friends. Wandering downtown, then foot massages at the best little West Village hole in the wall. That’s the best Sunday wind down.”

Her busy, fashion-filled life calls for no fail looks that always make her feel her best.
