7 Ways to Wear Spring’s Most Romantic Trend

7 Ways to Wear Spring’s Most Romantic Trend

by Melissa Magsaysay

Every season sees trends that can be easily taken as a sartorial no-no. Ruffles might appear like one those trends - a row of unexpected undulating fabric that carries with it the stigma of overtly girly, not always flattering and maybe just a little more flounce than anyone asked for.

Thankfully, this season’s take on ruffles is decidedly less Copacabana and more classic and understated. Consider a blouse by ML Monique Lhuillier with a subtle ruffled collar and and slightly flared sleeves. It’s a fun twist on a timeless white blouse and can be dressed up or down whether worn with vintage-style jeans or a sleek black pencil skirt. A block print blouse from Tanya Taylor has the same appeal, just done in a head turning pattern.

Plenty of wrap dresses this season have ruffles lining the edge of the hem. The detail adds a little whimsy to the versatile style. Balance it back out by adding a tough biker jacket on top.

Ruffles rule evening looks as well. For spring weddings or formal affairs, try the v-neck ruffle scuba gown from Badgley Mischka in a striking shade of pink or the midnight blue Juan Carlos Obando Long Sleeve Ruffle Wrap Dress. Both are effortlessly elegant and prove that ruffles can be modern when done right.

Here are 7 ways to incorporate ruffles into your wardrobe no matter what the occasion.
