Try These Style Tips When Rocking This One Piece Wonder.

We love the slightly throwback style and incredible versatility of a jumpsuit. From Christian Siriano's impossibly chic navy version to Brandon Maxwell's casual cool wide leg style, the jumpsuit is a fresh and unexpected way to inject some serious fashion into a look, with the ease of one piece. From proper proportions and tailoring to how to accessorize it, personal stylist Melissa Chataigne offers some suggestions to get the look right.

  • Consider the silhouette. Avoid too tight (Catwoman) or too loose (a tent) shape. A jumpsuit should skim the body, but still define lines and curves.
  • Draw the eye in with a belt. The key is to accent your waist as it breaks apart the look.
  • Pay attention to the fit and mind your proportions. Don’t be afraid to tailor the arms or legs if need be. If you have a long torso and short legs consider a wide leg pant. Comfort is always key.
  • Keep in mind the rise. Be wary of a jumpsuit that has an extreme dropped crotch or too short of a rise.
  • Go casual or sky high. Pair with sneakers when wearing a streamlined jumpsuit and wear heels if you’re rocking a wider leg.
  • Accessorize strategically. Try monochromatic heels and bags, which are key to elongate your figure.
  • Don't forget a statement earring. If a jumpsuit has a defined neckline opt for an earring to elevate and draw the attention up away from your waist.
  • Be aware of length. Tailor from the leg so the structure of the bell bottom is not compromised.
  • Confidence is key. You’re wearing the jumpsuit, the jumpsuit is not wearing you.
