What to Wear to a Spring Wedding

What to Wear to a Spring Wedding

You Asked, We Answered. The Best Size-Inclusive Style Advice To Solve Any Fashion Conundrum.

Q:

I have to attend a couple of weddings this spring where I want to look really amazing (without outshining the bride, of course). I tend to wear a lot of black, but don’t think the color will work for the time of year and the setting. I’m looking for a dress that’s feminine and floaty and really says “spring”.

Thank you,

Dear Margot While “wear your pajamas to work” day sounds like a recurring nightmare where the only fun part is the party snacks, the look is also a massive trend that’s taken over the way we think about and approach chic and sexy dressing. We’re not talking about plaid flannel pajamas and Ugg boots a la college sorority days, but PJ inspired looks that are effortless and elevated.

Consider this printed silk blouse and pants from Baja East. Wearing the pieces together makes for a dramatic all-over print look that is dressier than your average jeans and blazer combo. Wear this for day with a stark white sneaker and for night slip on a high heel black sandal - preferably something sleek and with an ankle strap. Thin gold hoops would take this look into resort or vacation territory not to mention you could Get more mileage out of this ensemble by pairing the pants with a white or grey t-shirt and some cool slides and the blouse tucked into those favorite jeans (white jeans would be especially chic and spring-y).

La Ligne’s navy top and pants with white piping is a more classic take on a pajama set and sets more of a blank canvas to work with. Each piece is easily paired with jeans or leather leggings (with the blouse) or a great cashmere sweater (with the pants) and truly works from day to night. Try a nude or metallic sandal for evening and for day, that white sneaker still works as do chic mules in gold or nude. Tuck in the top for cleaner lines and get ready to impress your friends with how well you pull off the entire look. A breezy duster coat also emulates the loungewear look but without having to go full (sexy) sleepover. This Dima Ayad metallic duster jacket can literally be thrown over anything from jeans and a t-shirt to a crisp white trouser and muted silver silk tank top. Take it on holiday and wear it as a swimsuit cover up; it’s beyond versatile and provides instant polish. With this coat, we think more is more. Play up the gorgeous metallic hue with statement earrings for an “art gallery” vibe. Whether you’re playing hostess at home or actually hitting a gallery party, it’s a no fail look with just the right amount of drama and all the comfort you could imagine.
